HISTORY OF VALLE ESCONDIDO

In English, “Valle Escondido” means “hidden valley,” and for thousands of years this spectacular 125-acre valley was hidden from everyone except Panama’s indigenous tribes who called it home. The nearly vertical jungle-covered mountainous resort walls rise up over 100 meters from the valley floor making it completely secluded. A beautiful river meanders through the lush vegetation making its way to the Pacific Ocean some 30 miles away.

Today, the Valle Escondido Resort, Golf and Spa is a spectacular hotel paradise where the traveler who has pretty much seen and done it all can come discover something new: a 16th-century Spanish pueblo with tiled roofs and baked brick walkways along the river. In the center of the resort’s pueblo is a beautiful floral park with fishponds whose waters gently cascade from one to another. It was Mr. Taliaferro’s vision for the sound of cascading water to be heard everywhere in Valle Escondido.
